From the start of the independence to this day the education policies which were implemented in Timor-Leste were intended to improve and transform the educational system and originated from Indonesia’s occupation of 24 years. Only when the population has had solid training, development can take place in the country.

A highly job market-oriented vocational training allows an easier career entry for Timor-Leste’s young generation, while offering at the same time constant growth of qualified specialists and executives. This broad occupational education subsequently leads to increased life-long learning among the students affected.

Training in companies and at schools are planned to be the common form of vocational education, while academically organized teaching workshops represent another possible approach.

Don Bosco Polytechnical Institution Timor Leste
Another highly relevant partner in the region is the congregation of Don Bosco, providing a number of schools in Timor Leste , The training center provides a multi-year training for young dynamic pupils.
The High School is a vital facility due to its role in training tradesmen and technicians who will assist with the restoration and development of the country.
There are four areas of specialization: carpentry, basic engineering, electricity and electronics.
Udayana University supports students from Timor Leste as well.
